Ten individuals sentenced of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.

A circulating conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.

Their legal filing contends that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.

The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
